Oh where, oh where has my little dog gone

Oh where, oh where has my little dog gone
Oh where, oh where can he be
With his ears cut short and his tail cut long
Oh where, oh where can he be? nobody's dog is missing but you might be thinking I am missing since I've been much slower on my postings lately!

I have a REALLY good excuse though! I promise! I have been getting down, dirty and crafty!!
This picture is of a chair I am recovering. I started it in October before we moved, then started working on it again a month ago, until I ran into a hiccup of not enough supplies. I asked people around the country to help me find more and finally my mom in Pennsylvania found them and are shipping them to me. Soooo....hopefully I can finish the chair soon and post about the entire process of my very first upholstery project!

I've also been working on refinishing a dresser. I can't wait to share my finished projects with you! Until then I'll be working hard in my spare time!
(Now that I've told you about them I have pressure to finish!)

That's right, today marks three months at my new job!
Every week I face a new challenge, and every week I overcome an obstacle.
One thing gets better and another thing comes along, but lately I feel like I can actually handle it!
I feel more satisfaction in my work because it's tougher and takes more oopmh to get it all done. :)

Here's a few photos commemorating my three month mile marker!

Happy Tuesday!!

A lovely V day for me!

I came home to these roses held by my wonderful husband!

I love flowers! Any & All kinds!

Here we are getting ready to leave for our date!
I just got this dress last week from Express. It's coral! I looove coral!
(Sorry about the bad picture quality)

The dress even has pockets! How awesome!!

We ate at a hibachi grill, I love them!

We had a great night! How was your Valentine's Day?

Running errands & a BAD haircut!

This past Saturday rolled around and I had high hopes  to be QUITE productive!

On my to do list:

Stop by the bank...

Check out the Goodwill near my house and compare it to St. Louis...
(more expensive...maybe not quite as good but I will need to make another trip to be sure)

The Shoe Hospital to pick up my poor sick shoes...ok bad joke...
New heel tips on my favorite black heels...Is $9 too much to pay for heel tips?

An oil change...7k since my last one...I was well overdue!

 And....a haircut.
Ugh. The worst haircut in my life!! I told the girl "I like the length, I just want layers"
We picked a layer length, she shortened them by another 3", she put 3/4 of my hair in short layers while leaving a few scraggly bits longer...and she left one teensy tiny strand of my original length...see below.

WOW! Really?!?!?!?! Craaazy girl! Go back to beauty school and stop ruining people's lives! Hair is a girl's LIFE! Needless to say I went home and bawled a little!
My sweet hubby told me I could pay to go to a nicer salon and get it fixed but fixed means I'll make due until it grows out more. It looks nice curled...but I can't curl my hair EVERY day! Ponytails are the other option.
So sad. :(

Cutting Board Makeover

For my next DIY project....
It's been a while since I've had one...with the move and all...
If you remember my post last October of Flea Market Finds you might remember I picked up an old cutting board for $1. I had planned to make it into a rustic sign with a stenciled wine label or something. Well I have lately been in dire need of a good earring holder. Necklaces are pretty easy to hang but earrings? Not so much!

I cruised Pinterest for a few days to get ideas but I wasn't really feeling anything I saw. Then the old cutting board came to's sitting around waiting to be used...I could use that for an earring holder. I've got some old paint samples I use for DIY projects so I picked up some hooks, sandpaper, and got to work!

Here's my before:

Below I painted my first coat of a dark taupe color. I mixed the paint with water so that I didn't get a heavy layer.

One coat of Careless Whisper - a lovely off white...

 Two coats...

Then I used all my poor math skills and figured out how many rows down and across I needed to fit all 40 hooks on the board, and spaced them all out evenly.

Drilling the holes for the hooks...

Screwing in the hooks...

 It's finished!!!

And now...mounted and filled with my earrings!!

Before, During & After...

I love my new earring organization! I hope you do too! :)
