Do you like this burlap coffee sack chair?
Interested in how the makeover happened?
It started out looking like this...
Check out the nasty stains!
To re-finish the seat I removed it from the chair. The bottom was covered with a black burlap.
After removing black cover you see that the middle of the seat isn't supported leaving is very awkward to sit in!
After removing everything I see that there's horsehair in the chair. Being that horse hair is expensive and good quality I left it. Adding a layer of padding and supporting the middle of the seat, be adding some 1 x 6 pieces of wood - show in a later pic.
Using the old seat cover as a pattern for the new cover.
Painting the chair in "Careless Whisper" which is one of my favorite white/off-white paint colors!
(I deny it has anything to do with it's name or the song)
Here's a view of the support I added to the seat. Also a view of the new seat cover wrapped around the seat. I used a burlap coffee sack that I got at the Houston Urban Market Antique show a few weeks ago!
Ultimate re-purposing...I saved the upholstery tacks from puling it apart to put it back together! Saving $$ Yay!
Bottom cover stapled on!
And now the finished product!! I think the pictures speak for themselves. I love this chair so much I'm not sure if I want to sell it!!
Hope you love this chair as much as I do!
Inspired by this chair, costing only a fraction of the price!
