Pallet Chalkboard

My latest DIY project was something I was really excited to try!

It started with this pallet. Unfortunately it was a new pallet - not old and beat up looking like I prefer.

To make it look old I used the steel wool & vinegar solution and brushed it on the wood to give it the aged look I wanted.

After that I sanded the front boards down really good, filled in spots with wood putty, and primed them. To finish it up: 3 coats of chalkboard paint, 3 days to cure - then rubbed the chalk all over to prep it for use.

This was for a friend/client, so we took it over to her house and installed it!

Here's the results!

Loving the new idea, and the way the pallet structure works perfectly as a weekly calendar!!

This is a great idea, Jenn, combining two things that people are really gravitating to. Way to be creative!!
