Anniversary Weekend

A week and a half ago Corey and I got away to celebrate our 5 year anniversary. We rented a log cabin from the 1850's tucked away in the countryside of Brenham, TX.

Here's some pictures of the cabin!

The main floor was one open room with a bed, kitchen, and dining area, with a bathroom in the back.

Stairs leading to the loft with a day bed and TV to relax and watch some movies.

The bathroom had some adorable vintage doors which I wanted to take with me very badly!

Once we got settled in we started prepping our dinner. Steak, potatoes and zucchini & squash! Mmmm! All grilled on the gas grill they provide!!

The view from the kitchen as I watch him grill. The hot tub was waiting for us too!

The view out the front of the cabin was perfection. Trees, fields, and no other buildings or people in sight! It was a welcome sight in comparison to our daily lives in Houston!

You may all have a good laugh right about now... but the morning of our anniversary we visited a cemetery!

Most of you know I love ancestry. I use a lot when looking up my ancestors. I've requested photos of many of their gravestones - all located in New York and out of my reach. There have been several very kind people who have taken those photos for me. Because of that, it's been a goal of mine to fulfill some gravestone photo requests for others.
With several small old cemeteries nearby we  stopped at one and searched for the stones with photo requests. Unfortunately there were many graves with blank stones and we were not able to find the requested graves.
Instead we both got bit by fire ants! Ouch!

I LOVED this field of wildflowers!

Other things we did on the weekend,
Antique shopping
Lunch in Brenham at Sweets & Eats (Yummy food!)
Brenham Heritage Museum
Wineries (I don't recommend Pleasant Hill Winery but DO recommend Saddlehorn Winery)
Hot Tubbing :)

And the one picture we got together that weekend, a selfie at Saddlehorn Winery!

We had a great relaxing weekend. We got away from the hustle and bustle of the city and enjoyed each other's company!

Oh my goodness!! What a fun getaway! I love the rustic feel to the cabin and the fact that there is a hot tub and antique shops close by! I am totally going to have to try a trip like this with my husband!
