House Tour: Guest/Craft Room

Today it's time to share pictures of our guest/craft room!

I took a break last week as I've been settling into the new job and house hunting for our new home!

This room is also home to all my ancestry research and family heirlooms.
The quilt on the end of the bed was made by my grandmother.
The small trunk by the window was my grandmother's trunk. I remember visiting her farm as a child and it sat right next to her rocking chair and held all her yarn.

The dresser was mine as a child and I refinished it a few years ago. The color is "Creamy White". I love the new shabby chic look it has! All the hardware is original, I just painted it with oil rubbed bronze to cover up the old brass look.

I <3 my strictly cash sign. I found this probably 10 years ago at a garage sale for about 5 cents!

My grandfather's driver's license from 1941! I'm not really sure why it was a chauffeur's license, but my best guess is that it had something to do with him being a farmer. He definitely had to operate a lot of machinery, and had 11 children...so that in itself could qualify him as a chauffeur! Haha!

This picture is of another grandfather(on the right). He was a marine and this picture was back in the 40's with one of his buddies.

Here is my antique sewing machine, from 1923. Made by the company "Standard" which was later bought out by Singer. The model name is called "Vibrator". I have all the original paperwork and attachments, all found at a flea market for $25!

Also pictured is my vintage dress form, dressed in my great grandmother velvet bias cut dress, accented with a vintage fur shawl. I love having a dress from one of my ancestors, it means the world to me!

A closer look at my sewing machine, and a shadow box full of pictures and mementos from my ancestry. A picture of my great grandparents, a marriage booklet from my grandparents wedding, and my grandmother's mini hammer!

The headboard is just a few extra shutters I had lying around and they looked perfect in this room!

Here is our pallet shelf. I love this simple and rustic shelf that holds even more of my ancestors photos.

I hope you all enjoyed seeing this room. It holds so many items that I hold dear. Sharing these pictures with you allowed me to remember how dear they are to me! Do any of you have items in your home that hold sentimental value? I'd love to hear about them!

Come back to visit me soon as I have more pictures to share!

I did not realize that trunk was what Grandma used to store her yarn in! Cool. I've always loved that room, and the way it is set up there with all that natural light! Its farmhouse yet airy!
The only two things I'm thinking I would change when you move into your new house are: (1)put a pretty fluffy white comforter under the quilt to help the quilt pop in a vintage way. (2)Distress/sand down that chest a little to show its age a bit more.
Just thoughts...! I love the shutters behind the bed...and I love the way you have all the decor staged!
