Before and After: Home Edition

After sharing our house tour with you I thought I'd share some before and after pics of our Houston house. While we didn't do a lot of work to the house we really updated the look and made it our own.

Front of the House: Before

Porch: Before

 Porch: After

What we did:
-Removed the rose bushes  *gasp in horror* I know I know... some people think I was nuts but I was just NOT a fan of the rose bushes!
-Removed the old railing and header, it feel dated and it had to go!
-Added pine boards around the existing beams, stained and sealed them.
-Added flowers and mulch. I added Ixora the first year but the harsh "winter" killed them. The next year I planted Salvia.

Dining Room: Before

Dining Room: After

Same paint, same flooring. Just more updated contemporary furnishings and decorations.

Living Room: Before

Living Room: After

Again, not a drastic change but the previous owner's furniture felt dark and heavy.

Breakfast Room: Before

Breakfast Room: After

Master Bedroom: Before

Master Bedroom: After

This room has probably the most drastic appearance change.  Can you believe they are the same room?! We changed out the ceiling fan...for obvious reasons. The graduation tassel pull chains were just not cutting it!

So, if you're feeling like you're house is outdated, try switching up your furniture to get a new look.

Same house just much better decorating. It completely changes the feel of things.

I was thinking the other day that I wished I had moved while you were still in town so I could get some custom furniture built, ha! I love the changes you made and will probably use your idea in your breakfast nook for my living room curtains... I have two windows next to each other and I don't know what to do with them. I also love your former fireplace, so different. Such drastic changes without having to redo anything major!
