Busy Life and House Progress

It's obvious I've been on a hiatus lately. Not only am I without a workshop to create anything to share with you. I've also been house hunting and so on.

About 2 1/2 weeks ago we found a house! We've done the inspection, got the appraisal, hunted for homeowner's insurance, and signed a lot of paperwork! We are set to close mid-October and can't wait!!

Here's some pics of the new house! (Keep in mind we will add lots of cute decor and color to give it character and hominess. We can't wait to make it our own!!)

 Large kitchen and breakfast room!
Separate dining and living room with open floor plan, and vaulted ceilings!!
Can't wait to take warm baths while looking out of that window!!
A private backyard all to ourselves!

I can't wait to move in and start making it our home!! (and unpack all our kitchen stuff so I can cook again!!)

Hope ya'll are enjoying the fall!!

Before and After: Home Edition

After sharing our house tour with you I thought I'd share some before and after pics of our Houston house. While we didn't do a lot of work to the house we really updated the look and made it our own.

Front of the House: Before

Front of the House: After

Porch: Before

 Porch: After

What we did:
-Removed the rose bushes  *gasp in horror* I know I know... some people think I was nuts but I was just NOT a fan of the rose bushes!
-Removed the old railing and header, it feel dated and it had to go!
-Added pine boards around the existing beams, stained and sealed them.
-Added flowers and mulch. I added Ixora the first year but the harsh "winter" killed them. The next year I planted Salvia.

Dining Room: Before

Dining Room: After

Same paint, same flooring. Just more updated contemporary furnishings and decorations.

Living Room: Before

Living Room: After

Again, not a drastic change but the previous owner's furniture felt dark and heavy.

Breakfast Room: Before

Breakfast Room: After

Master Bedroom: Before

Master Bedroom: After

This room has probably the most drastic appearance change.  Can you believe they are the same room?! We changed out the ceiling fan...for obvious reasons. The graduation tassel pull chains were just not cutting it!

So, if you're feeling like you're house is outdated, try switching up your furniture to get a new look.
